FairShare privacy policy
FairShare is an app for sharing household costs with a partner. This policy explains what it stores, why, who can see it, and how you can export or delete it. In short: we store only what the app needs to work, we never sell or share your data for advertising, and FairShare contains no ads, analytics or tracking.
Who is responsible
FairShare is published by Even Oars, the trading name of Cristian Plaiu, an individual based in Spain, who is the data controller for the personal data described here. Contact: privacy@evenoars.com.
What we store
| Data | Why |
|---|---|
| Your email address | To create your account and send you a sign-in code. If you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive your email address and an account identifier from them. |
| Your display name | So your partner can see who added what. |
| Household details: currency, members, invite codes | To link you and your partner in one shared household. |
| Expenses: amount, date, category, who paid, how it is split, an optional note | To work out who owes whom each month. |
| Recurring bills: name, amount, schedule | To add regular bills to each month for you. |
| Split ratio, settled months | To keep a record of each month's split and settlement. |
| Your monthly income (optional) | To calculate a split in proportion to income. You only enter it if you choose to. |
We do not collect your location, contacts, photos, device identifiers or advertising identifiers, and we do not build a profile of you.
Stored only on your phone
Some settings never leave your device: the app lock, display preferences such as hidden amounts, and bill reminders, which are scheduled as notifications by your phone. The app lock uses your phone's own fingerprint, face or PIN check; FairShare never receives your biometric data.
Who can see your data
- Your partner sees the shared household: shared expenses, bills, the split ratio and settlements, and your display name.
- Your partner does not see your private expenses, or your income unless you turn on sharing. Note that someone who knows their own income and the ratio could estimate yours; the app reminds you of this.
- Nobody else. We never sell your data or share it for advertising.
Service providers
We use these providers to run the app. They process data only on our instructions and under data protection agreements:
- Supabase: database, sign-in and hosting of the app's data, in the European Union.
- Resend: sends the sign-in emails, so it receives your email address.
- Google Play: distributes the app and its updates under Google's own privacy policy.
Where a provider is based outside the European Economic Area, transfers are protected by the European Commission's standard contractual clauses or an equivalent safeguard. Our providers keep short-lived technical logs, such as IP addresses, to run and secure their service.
Legal basis
We process your data because it is needed to provide the app you asked for (Article 6(1)(b) GDPR). Your income is optional, and you can remove it at any time.
How long we keep it
We keep your data while you have an account. When you delete your account:
- your email address, sign-in details, display name and income are deleted;
- if your partner still has an account, the shared household history (expenses, bills, settlements) stays with them, no longer linked to you;
- if you were the last member, the whole household is deleted.
Backups made by our database provider may keep copies for a short time, after which they are overwritten.
Your rights
You can access, correct, export or delete your data. Most of this is in the app:
- Export: Account → Download my data gives you everything FairShare stores about you and your household, as a JSON file.
- Delete: Account → Delete account, or see how to delete your account without the app.
You can also object to or ask us to restrict processing, by writing to privacy@evenoars.com. We reply within one month. If you are not satisfied, you can complain to the Spanish data protection authority, the Agencia Española de Protección de Datos, or the authority where you live.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS). Database rules make sure each person can only read their own household, and private items only their own.
Children
FairShare is meant for adults and is not directed at children under 16.
Changes
If we change this policy, we will update the date above. For important changes, we will tell you in the app.
